Licensed substitute teachers - go classified
Licensed substitutes can increase positions by adding classified positions to your profile. By accepting classified positions you will increase your chances of getting jobs and gaining exposure. Once added to your profile, the system will call you regardless of the type of absence that needs to be filled. Absence Management fills positions based on need and does not prioritize licensed over classified positions .
Business card
A business card is helpful for introductions and name recognition within districts. Include your name, phone, absence ID number, email and educational credentials. Leave your card with the school office, the staff you are substituting for, and other professionals throughout your day.
Become a preferred substitute
Increase your chances of being called by becoming a preferred substitute. The Absence Management system allows employees and schools to have a preference list of substitutes. If no one on that preferred list is available, then Absence Management will go to the general skill list of substitutes to call.
Food service and custodial
Food service workers require a Oregon food handlers card. Contact us when you have a new or renewed card. Custodial positions involve lifting heavy items at times and cleaning all areas in a school. Custodial positions hours are often in the afternoon and evening.
Substitute in special education
A special education endorsement on your teaching license is not necessary to work in a special education classroom. District have special education classrooms within their schools and are always looking for available substitute teachers and educational assistants.
